There is 3 ways to chat in the chat room

Now lets get on to setting it all up.

  • For the purpose of doing this we will us just the basic MIRC script.

    • First let formulize you with the MIRC gui.SNAGIT.jpg (29780 bytes)Click the thumbnails.

    • now we have to add the server. The first time you open MIRC you should have the options window open. Click add, then type in description ICQ, and in the server line type ircqnet.icq.com then push the connect to server button.  we add port now. Type in 6667.SNAG-001.jpg (33550 bytes) Then pick a few nick names be creative.SNAG-003.jpg (24224 bytes)

    •  Ok your almost there :-} now type /join #icqadultchat and your in.SNAG-002.jpg (72615 bytes)

A few commands to help you.

/join #roomname Enter an existing room, or create a new room if this room name doesn't exist.
/admin server name Retrieves administrative information about the IRC server to which you are connected. Often provides an email address for the server administrator and indicates which server administrators are online for that server. If the server name is omitted, then this command will provide information about the server to which you are connected.
/away message The system will automatically send this message to anyone trying to message you. It is often used to tell people that you are away from your computer. If you no longer wish to be seen as "away", then simply type '/away no message' in the text area and the away message will no longer be displayed.
/chanserv Using ChanServ allows the channel to be controlled without the need of an IRC bot and makes channel takeovers virtually impossible.
    /cs Usage: /cs command|channel parameters
This is an alias, which calls to ChanServ to reduce your amount of typing. Instead of always typing /msg chanserv <command|channel> [parameters], you simply type /cs <command|channel> [parameters].

    Example: /cs set #ICQHelp mlock +tn

A user can send this command to get help on topics. The message is sent to all IRC ops that are set with the +h mode (looks very helpful). However, if the command HELPSERV is done without any parameters or message it will simply list the IrCQ-Net commands.

    Example: /helpops How do I
    /helpServ Kline
    /helpops How do I
i /info Displays information about the server that you are connected to including up time, address and version.
/invite nickname channelname Used to invite people to join a channel. The server will send a message to the user that you have designated, telling him of the invitation. This is the only way to join a channel that is set mode +i.

    Example: /invite residue #support.
/links This command will show all the servers currently linked together on the network.
    /list Updates the room list
/motd servername Display the current Message of the day for the server that you designate. If you leave the server field blank it will return with the current server you are logged onto.
    /nick newname Change your nickname
/nickserve NickServ allows users to register their nicknames for use while online. Users may reserve their favorite online name for their personal use with options to ensure that nobody else can use it.
/notice nickname OR channelname message Sends a message into a channel or to a specific user. Usually reserved for important messages.
    Example:
/notice #ICQChatMaster Check out our new web page
/notice Phil What version of mIRC do you use?
    /ns Usage: /ns command
ns is a built in alias that calls upon NickServ. It reduces your amount of typing.

    Example: /ns register mypass JohnDoe@somehost.com /ns help
/part channelname message The part command will disconnect you from the specified channel. The example below would make you leave the channel #ICQChatMaster.
Example: /part #ICQChatMaster See you later
/pass mypass The pass command has the same functionality as the identify command used with NickServ
/msg nickname OR channelname message This functionally works exactly the same as the /msg command.
/msg Use this command to send a private message to another user on IRC chat.
/me is a pink bunny. Your nickname will be visible before your message to other users on IRC.
/part #coolness You leave the chat room and return to the IRC menu
/quit Leave the chat and disconnect from the server.
/topic new topic Changes the topic (if allowed)
User Modes Usage: /mode nickname +/- ModeLetter
i Invisible: Makes a user invisible, you will not be able to see what channels this user has joined unless you are in a channel with that user.
s Server messages: Allows you to see messages that the server sends.
w Wallops: Messages set by IRC ops to users will be visible.

    Example:
/mode Dan +isw (will be invisible, see server msgs & wallops)
/mode Dan -s (will no longer see server messages)
/who channelname OR nickname Can be used on both channels and nicknames. When this command is activated on a channel it will display the users and their status in that channel. When used on a user it will show all the channels the user is in, along with other information only if one of the two following conditions is met: you are in channel with 'nickname' or 'nickname' is not invisible (+i).
/whois nick Shows you information about this nickname
/whowas nickname For a certain amount of time after a client has left the server you can still get information about that client. The information is the same as the information in the "whois" command.
